Unlocking Peak Performance: Our Lens Mounting & Calibration Service

In the world of high-precision imaging, the quality of your system is defined by more than just its individual components. Even the most sophisticated lens and the most advanced camera will fail to deliver their full potential if they are not perfectly harmonized. Mechanical tolerances, minute variations in sensor position, and flange focal distance deviations can all compromise image quality, leading to suboptimal results.

At Schneider-Kreuznach, we understand that achieving theoretical maximum performance requires more than just assembling parts. It requires a deep understanding of optical science and a commitment to precision. That is why we are proud to offer our comprehensive Lens Mounting and Calibration Service—a complete solution designed to transform your chosen lens and camera into a perfectly unified, high-performance imaging system. By choosing our Mounting and Calibration Service, you benefit from:

  • Guaranteed Peak Performance: Eliminate image quality variables and ensure you are capturing the best data possible.
  • Significant Time and Resource Savings: Free up your engineering team to focus on their core tasks. No need to invest in expensive calibration equipment or specialized training.
  • Unmatched Precision and Reliability: Leverage our decades of experience in optical design and manufacturing for consistent, repeatable results.

From Individual Components to a Cohesive System

Our service is designed to remove the guesswork and complexity from system integration. Instead of spending valuable time and resources on in-house calibration, you can rely on the expertise of our seasoned engineers. We handle the entire process, delivering a ready-to-use, fully optimized system directly to you.

The process is meticulous, transparent, and rooted in our legacy of optical excellence.

1. Expert Consultation and Assembly

It begins with your specific application. We work with you to ensure the chosen lens and camera are the ideal match for your needs. Our technicians then meticulously mount the lens onto your specific camera, ensuring a mechanically sound and stable connection within our state-of-the-art facilities.

The device measures lens center thickness, preferably of previously centered lenses. A central clamp aligns the test pieces centrally to two measuring feelers via their diameter. The feelers are then closed pneumatically and offset against each other in separate digital display electronics. The lens center thickness is displayed immediately. The diameter of the central clamp can be preset, which hugely simplifi es operation when measuring several lenses of the same type.

In order to obtain information quickly about the center thickness of small lenses in the manufacturing process, an extended version of the existing lens center thickness gauge VP 30195 is also available. The device has an integrated laser centering device and can therefore measure even uncentered lenses without any problems.

2. Calibration in Our Testing Laboratory

This is where the magic happens. The assembled camera-lens unit is brought into our specialized optical testing laboratory. Here, one of our experienced engineers takes charge of the calibration process.

3. Precision Alignment with Test Patterns and Software

Using high-resolution test patterns (Testmuster) and proprietary analysis software, our engineer precisely measures the system's performance. The goal is to perfectly align the optical characteristics of that individual lens with the unique sensor plane of that specific camera. This process corrects for even the slightest microscopic deviations, ensuring that the point of perfect focus is achieved exactly where it needs to be. The result is a system calibrated for maximum sharpness, contrast, and resolution across the entire image field.

Once the calibration is complete and verified, the fully integrated system is prepared for shipment. It arrives at your facility as a "plug-and-play" solution, ready for immediate integration into your machine vision application, production line, or research setup.
