Color filters for the industry
Schneider Kreuznach color filters are usually absorption filters that transmit light in the red spectral range of about 700 nm. These longpass filters are also open to the near infrared (NIR) range of approximately 800 nm to 1200 nm, enabling measurement tasks in this range. Unlike bandpass filters, which are designed and manufactured as interference filters, color filters are absorption filters that absorb rather than cancel out the light that is not transmitted.
What is the function of a color filter?
A color filter is an absorption filter that selectively transmits or reflects light of a specific color or range of colors while blocking or absorbing other colors. The filter is designed to have high and precise spectral selectivity so that it passes or reflects only a narrow, desired spectral band of light.
Where is a color filter used?
Color filters are used in a variety of industrial applications, including machine vision, imaging, and optical sensing. They are used to adjust the color balance of an image, increase contrast, or separate different colors in a complex light source.

In spectroscopy, spectral lines are analysed by selectively blocking or transmitting certain wavelengths using bandpass filters.
Mounts for color filters
C-Mount
Defined by 1” (25.4mm) diameter and 32 turns per inch pitch, C-Mount thread is a popular camera mount in machine vision industry. Schneider-Kreuznach offers for most filters a CMT mount option. So that filters can go in any C-Mount based mechanics in vision systems.
Another popular application, CMT mounts can easyly be used for, is placing a filter in front of the sensor into the camera. The extension of the back flange distance has to be considered for imaging applications.

SH-Mount
Schneider-Kreuznach offers a variety of mounts with common thread sizes to fit on most camera lens systems. SH-Mount is the standard, when high flexibility is needed. Filters are held by retainer rings. SH-Mounts are extreme robust.
All SH-Mounts have a female and male M-thread, and can be stacked if several filters must be combined.

SN1-Mount
SN1-Mount was designed for in machine vision industry popular M30.5x0.5 thread. With its high clear aperture, vignetting can be avoided, even for wide angle applications. The filter is glued into the mount, in order to secure it against vibrations when integrated into robots or production lines. It is ideal to be used in automated fabrication.
SN1-Mounts have a male and female M-thread, and can be stacked if several filters must be combined.

Product Highlights
Color filter - LP 825 HT
The Schneider Kreuznach absorption filter LP 825 blocks all wavelengths below 825 nm and blocks visible light. It allows all wavelengths between 825 nm and 2000 nm to pass. The NIR (near infrared, wavelength ca. 900 nm to 1200 nm) with an average of over 95 %. The filter transmits the SWIR range above this between 1200 nm and 2000 nm with values between 70 % and 80 %.

Mechanics

With our high-end 5-axis CNC milling machines, we have world-class machining capabilities that give us exceptional precision and flexibility. These powerful milling machines allow us to realize complex geometries and sophisticated contours in the mechanical components of our filters while maintaining high reproducibility. Electroplating is performed in-house under strict environmental conditions, allowing us to customize the surface coatings of our products to meet the specific requirements of our customers.
