Schneider-Kreuznach Introduces New Cine Filter Vapour
Schneider-Kreuznach is expanding its portfolio of creative cine filters and presents the new diffusion filter “Vapour”. The filter has been specifically developed to create an atmospheric look with a fine, controlled haze without sacrificing the rich blacks that are essential for modern productions. It is the ideal tool for filmmakers who want a soft, slightly misty image while maintaining maximum control over contrast, depth, and skin tones.
Vapour combines the characteristic strengths of the popular Radiant Black filter: natural skin tones, controlled halation, and stable, rich blacks - with an additional defined mist effect. This subtly reduces contrast and creates a contemporary cinematic atmosphere.
The filter is available in a single strength and offered in the sizes 4x5.65, 6.6x6.6, M77, and M82, giving filmmakers maximum consistency and repeatability across different productions.
Vapour was first introduced at Hamburg Open and ATM Lens Days in Warsaw in January 2026. At both events, it received an enthusiastic response and could be experienced in action for the first time, allowing visitors to see its balanced and modern visual impact firsthand.
The filter will also be showcased internationally in spring 2026, including at the Lens Summit in Portland from March 20th to 21st, at the NAB Show in Las Vegas from April 19th to 22nd, and for the European market at the Euro Cine Expo in Budapest in May, where filmmakers will have the opportunity to test it in practical use.
