Precision Imaging with Schneider-Kreuznach Polarization Filters | Opto Case Study

How do Schneider-Kreuznach polarization filters enhance industrial imaging and ensure reliable quality control? Opto's latest case study reveals how these high-performance filters maintain resolution, reduce reflections, and optimize optical particle analysis for precise cleaning validation.

by Opto GmbH

The quality of industrial imaging relies heavily on selecting the right optical components. In a recent study, Opto evaluated the performance of Schneider-Kreuznach linear polarization filters. The results demonstrate that our filters not only reduce reflections but also maintain high resolution and image quality in demanding applications. Particularly in optical particle analysis and the assessment of cleaning processes in industrial environments, polarization filters play a crucial role. Discover in this case study why Schneider-Kreuznach filters are the top choice for precise industrial imaging.

Evaluating Cleaning Success with Schneider-Kreuznach Polarization Filters

At Opto, we focus on providing precise imaging and software solutions tailored to industrial needs. Our range of optical products and services is designed to meet diverse application requirements and budgets, helping businesses achieve their goals efficiently.

In a recent study, we analyzed the imaging quality of Schneider-Kreuznach Linear Polarization Filters. Using our own resolution test target, the Calibration target Micro V2 (Art.Nr.: 045-200200), we evaluated their performance under polarized conditions. The filters maintained high-resolution imaging without major impairments, as shown in Figure 1. When compared to similar filters from other manufacturers under identical conditions, the Schneider-Kreuznach filters demonstrated superior performance.

To conduct these tests, we used two Schneider-Kreuznach Linear Polarization Filters (product numbers 1010313 and 1053421). These filters are constructed for industrial applications, incorporating dichroic laminated polarizing polymers encapsulated between protective glass layers. Schneider-Kreuznach also offers flexibility in providing larger sizes or non-standard shapes through their customizable polarizing films. These films, made from precisely aligned long-chain polymers coated with cellulose triacetate (TAC), ensure stability and durability in demanding environments.

Figure 1: resolution test target imaged under varying polarization conditions. the left side shows the target imaged without a polarizing filter, and the right side shows the target imaged using a schneider-kreuznach linear polarizing filter. both images demonstrate equivalent resolution and clarity, indicating that the polarizing filter does not impact the resolution performance in this context.

Enhancing Quality Assurance: Polarization Filters in Optical Particle Analysis

In addition to ensuring excellent image quality, Schneider-Kreuznach Linear Polarization Filters were tested in our optical particle analysis process, a critical application in industrial quality assurance. Polarized light plays a key role in detecting residual particles and assessing cleaning success, which are essential for ensuring the reliability of sensitive products. It also allows for identifying material properties, such as distinguishing between metallic and non-metallic particles. By analyzing reflections under varying polarization conditions, as shown in Figure 1, the filters enabled precise particle assessment.

By leveraging high-quality components from trusted partners like Schneider-Kreuznach, Opto delivers tailored solutions that enhance imaging processes and support industrial innovation. This collaboration underscores our commitment to providing reliable, efficient technologies that meet evolving industry demands.
