Precision mechanics production

This capability is essential for creating rugged, reliable systems for machine vision and industrial automation. It allows our design engineers the freedom to incorporate complex features, knowing they can be realized with exacting tolerances in-house.

The stability and alignment of an optical system are dictated by the quality of its mechanical components. Our in-house mechanics manufacturing facility is engineered to produce the structural backbone of our lens assemblies with exceptional precision and repeatability. By controlling the entire machining process, from CAD/CAM programming with Siemens NX to final part inspection, we ensure that every housing, flange, and retaining ring perfectly matches the design intent.

Inside our state-of-the-art production facility, raw metal is transformed into high-precision mechanical components. Our multi-axis CNC machines are capable of executing the most intricate designs, creating the robust and reliable mechanics:

Our Core Optics Manufacturing Capabilities Include

The mechanical structure of an optomechanical system is responsible for maintaining the precise alignment and stability of the optical path, often under challenging industrial conditions. Our in-house mechanics manufacturing capabilities are the critical link that translates our engineering designs into physical reality. By leveraging advanced CAD/CAM programming with a suite of modern CNC machinery, we produce complex components with exceptional precision and repeatability. This vertical integration gives our engineers the confidence to design sophisticated features, knowing they can be realized to exacting tolerances.

Advanced CNC Turning

We operate a suite of multi-axis CNC lathes (Index, Benzinger, Okuma) capable of turning parts from bar stock (Ø 5 mm to 102 mm) and in-chuck up to Ø 450 mm. With capabilities for up to 8 axes and live tooling, we produce complex cylindrical components to tight tolerances (up to ISO 5 on our Benzinger µ-Future).

High-Speed 5-Axis Milling

Our milling centers (Hermle, Chiron) provide simultaneous 5-axis machining for creating complex geometries, control cams, and housing features. This technology is fundamental to producing lightweight, robust, and non-trivial mechanical parts for modern optical systems.

Specialized Thread Manufacturing

For applications requiring precise motion control, we utilize thread whirling techniques to produce high-precision, multi-start motion threads (M1.4 to M16), both internal and external.

Micro-Waterjet Cutting

Our Daetwyler Microwaterjet system allows for the intricate, heat-free cutting of materials up to 20mm thick with a positional accuracy of +/- 0.03mm. This is ideal for creating custom apertures, slits, and other delicate components without inducing thermal stress.
