Optical Coating Technology

Our coating processes are conducted in advanced vacuum deposition chambers, allowing us to create durable, multi-layer dielectric and metallic stacks with exceptional spectral precision and environmental stability.

The performance of an optical element is fundamentally enhanced by the application of advanced thin-film coatings. These nanometer-scale layers are precisely engineered to manipulate the reflection and transmission of light, which is essential for maximizing system throughput, reducing stray light, and achieving optimal contrast. At Schneider-Kreuznach, we design and deposit a wide range of optical coatings in-house, ensuring that every lens and filter delivers superior performance tailored to its specific application.

By managing the entire coating process in-house, we ensure unparalleled quality and consistency. From substrate preparation to the final layer, our experts oversee every step, allowing us to develop custom coating solutions:

Our In-House Coating Capabilities

Our portfolio of optical coatings is engineered to address a wide spectrum of industrial requirements, ranging from maximizing light transmission to ensuring performance in harsh environments. While our proprietary Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) technology serves as the foundation for durable, broadband anti-reflection performance, our capabilities extend far beyond a single solution. The objective is to engineer a thin-film stack that is precisely tailored to the specific operational wavelength, environmental conditions, and functional goals of the client's system. Our key coating solutions include:

Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC)

Our proprietary MRC is a high-performance, multi-layer broadband anti-reflection coating. It is engineered not only to maximize light transmission across a wide spectral range (e.g., 400-700 nm) but also to provide superior durability. The final layer of the MRC stack is a hydrophobic, oleophobic, and anti-static topcoat. This makes the optical surface highly resistant to water, oils, dust, and scratches, simplifying cleaning and ensuring reliable performance in harsh industrial environments.

Custom Anti-Reflection (AR) Coatings

Beyond our standard MRC, we design and deposit V-coatings for specific laser lines and custom AR coatings tailored to unique spectral bands, including the UV and NIR regions.

Filter and Mirror Coatings

Our capabilities extend to creating complex filter coatings, such as shortpass, longpass, and bandpass filters, as well as high-reflection dielectric and metallic mirror coatings for applications in beam steering and system folding.

Process Control & Metrology

Every coating batch is subject to rigorous quality control, including spectral analysis with spectrophotometers, to verify that it meets all transmission, reflection, and durability specifications.
